Lambskin lost its shine? No problem!

The need for care for a lambskin is very low, as it is naturally kept clean by the lanolin in the fur and has all the care it needs. Nevertheless, lambskins tend to become matted and knotted after a certain period of time. Here are a few tips on how to get your beloved lambskin soft again.

How do I get lambskin soft again?

Our recommendation is simple: brush regularly. You don't need a special brush for this, a simple hairbrush can work wonders. Because matted areas and smaller dried-in stains can be brushed out very well. Buy our brush here.

Another tip to avoid the washing process is to air the lambskin on your terrace, balcony or in the garden. Especially in spring, when there is still a little thaw early in the morning, there is the perfect natural "wash" for your lambskin.

White and champagne lambskins:

Since the tanning solution is water-soluble mineral salts, these skins must not be washed, otherwise the leather can become hard. We therefore only recommend professional cleaning.

Colored lambskins:

Our colored lambskins can be washed at 30 degrees on a wool cycle/delicate cycle. We recommend our special fur detergent. You can buy it here. Please do not hang to dry, but lay. The fur should be dried slowly and during the process the leather of the fur should be repeatedly pulled over the edge of a table or chair, for example, to make it soft and supple again.

Medicinal lambskins:

The fur can be washed in the washing machine or by hand at a maximum of 30 degrees on a gentle cycle. When drying, the same process is recommended as for colored lambskin. Please also note the washing instructions on the back of your medical lambskin.

Important NOTE:

Many of our lambskins and sheepskins are gently dyed on the skin and leather side. It can therefore happen that dyed and colored lambskins or sheepskins as well as lambskin blankets bleed.

Therefore, do not use the heavily colored lambskin as a seat cover for light-colored furniture or on light-colored furniture
leather sofas. The same applies to light-colored clothing.

It's always better to avoid the wash cycle as most dirty spots can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth or brushed out. Your lambskin should never be exposed to direct sunlight to dry; a well-ventilated room would be ideal.
